Carefree Quarter is a 24-acre development coming to the northeast corner of Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road. The plan includes roughly 120,000 square feet of retail, restaurants, and community amenities.

The Carefree Town Council approved the development agreement in late 2024, and by mid-2025 the final site plans — including signage, architecture, and landscaping — had all been reviewed and approved.

Construction is expected to begin in early 2025, starting with site preparation and infrastructure improvements.

If all goes to plan, the first phase of shops and restaurants could open by mid-to-late 2026.

In the meantime, you’ll start seeing site work, grading, and utilities going in along Carefree Highway and Cave Creek Road as the project takes shape.
