ABOUT ME

If you’re new to Cave Creek or thinking about moving here, you might be wondering: does Cave Creek have a library?

The answer is yes, and it’s not just any library. The Desert Foothills Library is a community treasure and the only privately funded public library in Maricopa County. It’s a place where locals and visitors alike come for resources, events, and a sense of connection.

About the Desert Foothills Library

Located on Saguaro Hill, just north of Cave Creek Road and School House Road, the Desert Foothills Library offers both convenience and stunning views. From its windows, you can see Black Mountain to the south and the Tonto National Forest to the north.

The library is unique because it’s public yet privately funded, operating as a non-profit supported entirely by donations (you can donate here!). Every visit helps sustain an important piece of the Cave Creek community.

Services and Resources

The Desert Foothills Library offers far more than just books. Some of the highlights include:

  • A robust collection of print books, audiobooks, and digital downloads
  • Free Wi-Fi and public computers, making it a great spot for remote work or studying
  • Events and programs for all ages, from kids to adults
  • Community book clubs, lectures, and workshops
  • Conference rooms available for meetings
  • Chapter2 Used Bookstore, a monthly sale of pre-loved books

When my kids were younger, we often went to Family Storytime, and the staff always knew how to make it fun and engaging. It’s one of many ways the library creates value for families and individuals alike.

Why Locals Love It

The Desert Foothills Library isn’t just a place to borrow books. It’s a true community hub. Here’s why residents appreciate it:

  • High-quality programming and events for diverse interests
  • No membership fees or late fees
  • A peaceful setting with incredible desert views
