If there’s one thing to know about me, it’s that I love food (literally anything but anchovies!). And I’ve got a running list of the best restaurants in Cave Creek that I can’t gatekeep any longer!

Living in Cave Creek means I’m always scouting out the best spots to grab a bite, and let me tell you, this little town is packed with incredible restaurants.

From casual burger joints to upscale dining with stunning desert views, Cave Creek has it all.

So, if you’re wondering where to eat, I’ve got you covered!

Discalimer: This guide is totally biased because it’s a list of my personal favorites. But, wherever you decide to eat, get up here and explore this fun towns food scene!

In this post we’ll look at my self-defined categories for places to grab some grub:

Best Western-Style Restaurant

Harold’s Cave Creek Corral – The Ultimate Cowboy Meal

If you’re looking for the classic Cave Creek cowboy experience, Harold’s is the place. This Western saloon-style restaurant has been a town staple since 1935 and is a go-to for great food, live music, and even line dancing and karaoke.

My Dining Tips:

  • Go for happy hour (Monday–Friday before 6 PM) to grab a deal.
  • Wednesday night’s prime rib special is a must-try.
  • The Potato skins appetizer and peppercorn pork chops are also delicious!
  • If you want a quieter meal, ask for a table in the fireplace room.

Best Fine Dining

Tonto Bar & Grill – Upscale Dining with a View

For an elevated dining experience, Tonto Bar & Grill is unbeatable. Nestled in the stunning Rancho Mañana Golf Community, this spot offers incredible Southwestern-inspired dishes with gorgeous golf course and desert views (I’m talking golden hour at it’s best!).

My Dining Tips:

  • Make a reservation for sunset—the golden hour on the golf course is magical.
  • The Compressed Arugula Salad is my go-to. If they ever bring back the Ahi Tuna Rolls, don’t hesitate—order them!
  • My grandpa always swore by the German Pork Schnitzel, and honestly, it’s pretty darn good.

Best Casual Spot

Oregano’s – Italian Comfort Food with a Southwestern Twist

Oregano’s is my go-to for a casual, family-friendly meal. It’s got an at-home feel, a fun patio with lawn games, and—bonus—huge portions. It’s also a great take-out option if you’re hosting a large group at home.

My Dining Tips:

  • Weekends get busy—make a reservation for dinner or place takeout orders early.
  • My top picks? Vino Bambino Salad, Italian Wedding Soup, Guaca-Tony, Alfredo the Dark, Lawrence’s Original Pizza, and the famous Pizza Cookie for dessert (those it’s a hard list to narrow down!).
  • The portions are massive—so don’t over-order like I often do (or do, leftovers are great!).

Best Mexican Cuisine

El Encanto – Authentic Mexican Food in a Stunning Setting

El Encanto is hands down one of the best Mexican restaurants in Arizona. The hacienda-style space, complete with a pond filled with ducks and turtles, makes for a unique dining experience.

My Dining Tips:

  • Reserve a table, especially if you want patio seating.
  • For families with kids, the window tables by the pond are a lifesaver—built-in entertainment!
  • Don’t miss the Seafood Enchiladas (Sunday & Monday special) and their margaritas (trust me, they’re amazing).

Best Coffee & Lunch

The Grotto Café – Cozy, Artsy, and Great Coffee

If you need a caffeine fix, The Grotto Café is a must-visit. Located in an old pottery studio, it’s got a relaxed vibe and serves locally roasted ROC2 coffee (which also happens to be my go-to at home!).

My Dining Tips:

  • Try their grilled muffins. I don’t know what magic they use, but they’re incredible.
  • Their barbecue chicken salad is my lunch go-to.
  • Perfect stop before or after a hike on Black Mountain.

Best Spot for Drinks & Live Music

Janey’s Coffee Co. & Bodega – Low-Key Vibes & Great Live Music

Janey’s is one of the coolest spots in town—a mix of coffee shop, wine bar, and live music venue all wrapped into one. It’s a great spot to unwind with a drink after a long day.

Our old house was within walking distance of this cute cafe and we used to pop over every Friday evening to ease in to the weekend!

My Dining Tips:

  • Popular bands = arrive early to grab a seat.
  • Sometimes there’s a small cover charge, but it’s worth it.
  • My go-to? A glass of wine and the Pub Board (cheese, sausage, pretzels—yum!).

Cave Creek may be small, but it’s got a food scene that punches way above its weight.

Whether you’re looking for a cowboy-style feast, a fine dining experience, or a casual bite, I believe there’s something here for every foodie.
