This October, the charming town of Carefree, Arizona is welcoming the annual Glass Pumpkin Patch, hosted by Gregory Tomb, owner of AZ Glassblowing Studio (also affiliated with Adirondack Glassblowing Studio). From Friday, October 24 through Sunday, October 26 (9 a.m.–5 p.m. daily) at the Sanderson Lincoln Pavilion in Carefree, you’ll find a vibrant outdoor display of hand-blown glass pumpkins in every imaginable color, shape and size.
Why the Glass Pumpkin Patch Carefree Is a Must-See Fall Tradition
Wandering through hundreds of glass pumpkins shimmering in the Arizona sun is such a treat. Every piece is unique—no two are exactly alike—and there’s a wide variety of shapes, sizes and price points, making it perfect whether you’re looking for a standout accent piece, a lovely gift, or something sweet to decorate your home for the season.
A cause worth supporting
Even better: a portion of the sales supports the Foothills Food Bank, helping to combat food insecurity and support families in the local community. So by bringing home a beautiful glass pumpkin, you’re also giving back.
What to expect
- Free parking around town, so you can stroll in without stress.
- A relaxing outdoor setting — the Pavilion in Carefree and the desert gardens are a lovely backdrop.
- A wide span of price points, so whether you’re splurging a bit or just picking something small and sweet, there’s room for all budgets.
- Fun for families, friends, or a solo treat: perfect photo-ops, fall vibes and art.
Personal note
Each year my mom and I arrive ready to explore. We love scanning the rows of pumpkins, pointing out ones with unexpected twists in color or shape, debating favorite pieces, and inevitably leaving with one (or two) that catches our eye. There’s something special about being part of this local tradition, seeing the artistry, feeling the desert light reflect through the glass, hearing friendly chatter around us. It’s casual, festive, and full of small-town charm. If you’re looking for a memorable autumn outing in Carefree, this is a great opportunity!
